Your installed AC price depends on the matched system and the work your home needs. Use Price My New System for a preliminary range, then confirm equipment, installation details and exclusions in a free written estimate.
Start with a price for your system type.
Use Price My New System to compare the options available in Service Pro’s current estimator. Its preliminary ranges help you plan; they are not a final quote or a guaranteed price for every home. A site assessment confirms the equipment and work included.
An outdoor-unit price found online cannot be compared directly with a complete installed system. Check whether the proposal covers the indoor equipment, controls, removal, connections and startup work.
Published Service Pro planning ranges.
| System type | Published planning range |
|---|---|
| Split gas | $12,500–$30,400 |
| Gas package | $10,100–$25,300 |
| Split heat pump | $10,300–$32,700 |
| Package heat pump | $11,300–$21,800 |
These broad ranges summarize the packages in our existing calculator; they are not a quote for a particular home. The upper range includes a 15% planning allowance, rounded up to the next $100. System selection, site conditions, additional scope and applicable taxes affect the final price; additional work may exceed the range.

What changes an AC replacement quote?
| Factor | What to compare in writing |
|---|---|
| System configuration | Split AC with furnace, split heat pump, rooftop package or ductless equipment. |
| Capacity and efficiency | Exact matched models, capacity selection and the rating for that combination. |
| Compressor stages and controls | Single-stage, two-stage or inverter equipment and compatible controls. |
| Equipment location | Attic, closet, ground or roof access and any lifting or preparation work. |
| Connected systems | Duct transitions, refrigerant lines, drains, electrical connections and gas work where applicable. |
| Included protection | Written parts and labor coverage, registration responsibilities and included maintenance. |
Ask for a complete installed comparison.
Line up the proposals by scope before comparing totals. One estimate may include duct changes or controls that another excludes. If a quote says “as needed,” ask which conditions trigger extra work and how you will approve the price.
- Which exact indoor and outdoor models are included?
- What equipment and materials will be reused?
- Are removal, disposal and startup included?
- Which connections, drainage and access changes are included?
- What is separate, optional or subject to an onsite finding?
- What written coverage and maintenance come with this installation?
Choose comfort features for a reason.
Read our AC staging comparison before paying for an upgrade. Tell us whether your priority is the initial budget, temperature consistency, noise or a specific room problem. A more expensive unit does not by itself fix an undersized return or a poorly supplied room.
What about repairs and financing?
Service Pro offers a $0 diagnostic, with repairs quoted separately, and free installation estimates. If replacement is being recommended elsewhere, you can also request a free second opinion. Compare financing terms separately from the cash installation price through our financing information.
